State Senator Charles T. McIhinney Jr.
Senator Chuck McIlhinney, Jr., was elected to represent the 10th Senatorial District (parts of Bucks and Montgomery Counties) of the Pennsylvania State Senate in November 2006.
Senator McIlhinney serves as Chairman of the State Government Committee and Vice Chairman of the Game and Fisheries Committee in the Senate, and he also serves on the Law and Justice, Labor and Industry, Rules and Executive Nominations, and Urban Affairs and Housing Committees. Before his election to the Senate, Senator McIlhinney spent eight years in the House of Representatives, where he served as Chairman of the House Subcommittees on Information Technology and Land Use Management. He also serves as Chairman of the Delaware Canal State Park Caucus and is a member of the Delaware River Basin Caucus.
As a member of the House, Senator McIlhinney was a leading advocate for open space preservation and land use management. He was also a leader in promoting energy efficiency and played a vital role in House passage of legislation to set statewide energy efficiency standards.
Prior to his service in the General Assembly, Senator McIlhinney worked as Director of the Bucks County Office of Employment and Training, where he helped many welfare recipients find good-paying jobs. He also served as a Doylestown Borough Councilman, as well as a Republican Committeeman and Republican State Committeeman.
Senator McIlhinney is an active member of his community, serving as a member of the Doylestown Kiwanis, Ancient Order of Hibernians in America, Durham Township Historical Society, Bucks County Farm Bureau, REP America, Penn Environment and the Heritage Conservancy. He also has gained valuable experience in promoting economic development as a member of the Central Bucks County Chamber of Commerce, Pennridge Chamber of Commerce and the Upper Bucks Chamber of Commerce.
Senator McIlhinney earned a degree in Finance from Bryant College and is currently working towards an M.B.A. in Technology Management at the University of Phoenix.
Senator McIlhinney is a lifelong resident of Bucks County. He resides in Doylestown Township with his wife, Jennifer, and their two children, Charles McIlhinney, III and Gabriella Grace.
