Dee Adcock Tears Up Rep. Schwartz's Federal Credit Card

Congressional Candidate Dee Adcock sent Rep. Allyson Schwartz a strong message about her out of control spending and reckless charging to the Federal Credit Card. At a press conference on Tuesday, August 31^st Adcock ripped up an enlarged version of a mock federal credit card. The card represented a 1.3 trillion federal deficit; equal to $43,000 for every American.

Before tearing up the credit card Adcock said, "Democrat leaders like to talk about not giving Republicans back the keys to the country. That shows they just don't get it. It's not about giving the keys to Republicans or Democrats. It's about giving the keys back to the American people!"

Montgomery Township Honors DA's Office

The Montgomery Township Board of Supervisors recently recognized the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office for its work prosecuting the murder of Robert Chae, a township resident.

"The board feels it's appropriate to commend the DA's office, for your hard work not only in this case, but for the work they do all year long to make sure the residents of Montgomery Township and of Montgomery County are safe," Board of Supervisors Chairman Joe Walsh said.

The board thanked District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman, First Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele, Assistant District Attorney Todd Stevens and prosecutors Jermey Abidiwan-Lupo and Angela Schwartz.

Montgomery County Republican Women's Leadership held their reorganization meeting last night at MCRC, and they re-elected their five officers - Marcy Toepel (Chair), Gayle Michael (Vice Chair), Nancy Becker (Treasurer), Barbara Bustard (Recording Secretary/Assistant Treasurer) and Jenny Brown (Corresponding Secretary).

MCRWL, which is an arm of the Montgomery County Republican Committee, is aimed at educating and supporting female candidates and leaders throughout the community - please contact Jenny Brown at jenny@commissionerbrown.com for more information on membership.

COURTHOUSE - Robert Kerns was reelected chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Committee (MCRC) at a recent party reorganization meeting held at Crowne Plaza Hotel in King of Prussia.

Kerns, who had no challengers for the chairmanship, was voted in by acclamation as voices shouted a chorus of "aye" from the packed banquet hall Thursday evening. There were no dissenting votes.

Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman recently was honored with the National Children's Advocacy Center's 2010 Outstanding Service Award for Prosecution. The award recognizes her work cofounding Mission Kids, which provides a wide range of support services for victims of child abuse.

"Working to open a child advocacy center for Montgomery County has been one of the most rewarding endeavors of my time in the District Attorney's Office," Risa told the Times Herald. "It has been a privilege to be part of a team of professionals dedicated to improving the lives of abused children."

Commissioner Castor Named to Expert Panel Focused on Reforming Philadelphia Courts

Montgomery County Commissioner Bruce Castor has been appointed to a panel of legal experts that will advise the state Supreme Court on changes to the court system in Philadelphia.

Commissioner Castor was one of nine people appointed to the panel. All have significant criminal justice experience.

The panel will work to develop a detailed timeline for change to address failures in Philadelphia's criminal justice system, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Marcy Toepel Wins 147th House Nomination

Marcy Toepel captured the Republican nomination for 147th District House of Representatives seat. The seat was previously held by Bob Mensch, who resigned to move to the State Senate.

Marcy is the first deputy to the Montgomery County Recorder of Deeds and the first vice president of the Montgomery County Council of Republican Women.

A special election to fill the seat will be held May 18.

The 147th includes Douglas, Greenville, Green Lane, Lower Frederick, Marlborough, New Hanover, Pennsburg, Perkiomen, Red Hill, Salford, Schwenksville, Skippack, Upper Frederick, Upper Hanover and Upper Salford.

Kerns supports Gerlach for Congress, uges committee to do the same

Montgomery County Republican Committee Chairman Robert J. Kerns is supporting Congressman Jim Gerlach in his bid for re-election in the 6th Congressional District, and urges committee members to do the same.

"Jim Gerlach has a tremendous record in Washington as a fiscal conservative fighting for taxpayers and families. The Republican Party, and residents of the 6th Congressional District, are fortunate that he has decided to run for re-election to Congress," Kerns said.

Gerlach, who has served in the U.S. Congress since 2002, has won hard-fought battles in the 6th Congressional District each election cycle. In 2006, Gerlach was the top target of national Democrats and endured $7.5 million spent against him, winning re-election in one of the worst political environments for Republicans in a generation. After announcing his candidacy for Pennsylvania Governor last year, he ended his campaign this past week. According to Gerlach, an outpouring of encouragement from constituents and supporters led him to seek re-election in the 6th.

"I personally support Gerlach in his re-election campaign, as many leaders throughout the 6th Congressional District do. I am urging my committee, as they endorse by areas, to do the same," Kerns said.

Kerns also expressed his gratitude to Lower Merion Commissioner V. Scott Zelov, who announced he was no longer seeing the Republican nomination for the 6th Congressional District after Gerlach made his re-election announcement, and immediately endorsed his re-election. "Scott is a terrific commissioner in Lower Merion, and made a great candidate for the 6th Congressional District. He was picking up support from across the district, and stepped aside to avoid forcing an effective and qualified Republican incumbent into a Primary."

Congratulations to Newest Members of the Bench

Wendy Demchick-Alloy, Carolyn Tornetta Carluccio, Patricia Coonahan, Garrett Page, Gary Silow and Kelly Wall took the oath of office today at Norristown High School. The six Court of Common Pleas judges were elected in November thanks to a true team effort by Republicans in Montgomery County.

A recurring theme in the remarks from each judge was the gratitude for all the support from volunteers and friends during the campaign. MCRC seconds that. Thank you for all your hard work.

MCRC Mourns the Loss of Maryanne Rickenbach

It is with great regret that we report that Maryanne Rickenbach, former MCRC Vice Chairwoman, former Recorder of Deeds for Montgomery County, past president of the Montgomery County Council of Republican Women and former ATRO chair, has passed.

This is a tremendous loss for all of us. Please keep Maryanne, her family and many friends in your thoughts.

A viewing for Maryanne will be held Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Baron and Rowland Funeral Home, 1059 Old York Road in Abington.

A funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Episcopal Church at York and Old Welsh roads in Abington.

Big Night for Montgomery County Republicans

Republican candidates for the Court of Common Pleas captured six of the seven seats yesterday.

Carolyn Tornetta Carluccio, Garrett D. Page, Wendy Demchick-Alloy, Kelly Wall, Gary S. Silow and Patricia Coonahan were elected to the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.

"We fielded an experienced team of dedicated public servants," MCRC Chairman Robert J. Kerns said. "It is clear voters looked to experience and qualifications rather than listening to a purely partisan message. Congratulations to our entire team. They ran an excellent campaign."

Despite a 30,000 voter registration advantage, Democrats were only able to win one seat on the bench. Republicans also captured important municipal races in North Wales, Lansdale and Hatfield.

"This was a hell of a night for Republicans in Montgomery County and across the country," Kerns told supporters at MCRC headquarters after midnight. "We know how to win races."

Kerns thanked Republican supporters across the county for the hard work on behalf of the judicial ticket.

"The reports of the demise of the Republican Party in Montgomery County are greatly exaggerated," Kerns said. "Today was proof of that."
