Fellow Republicans,
I would like to give a heartfelt "Thank You" to all of the Republican Committee members and supporters who worked for our Republican candidates throughout this election cycle.
Congratulations to Commissioner Bruce Castor, District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman and Recorder of Deeds Nancy Becker who won re-election, Sheriff Eileen Whalon Behr, who was elected by voters for the first time after being appointed earlier this year by Governor Corbett, and Stewart Greenleaf, Jr., who was elected Controller.
I would like to thank the Brown/Castor campaign staff and volunteers, and all of our candidates who came just short of victory. Jenny Brown is a terrific public servant, and worked very hard in her campaign for commissioner. The rest of our Row Office candidates - Moon Ahn, Gordon Clement, Bill Donnelly, Pat Mosesso and Chuck Wilson - worked tirelessly to spread a message of fiscal sanity, and they were formidable matches for their opponents, all but one of whom were incumbents.
This was not an easy morning for many of us who poured our hearts and souls into the Republican Party on the county-wide level this election. However, Republican committee members and volunteers should be proud of our grassroots victories across the county. We won back a Republican majority in several municipalities, and held the line in some difficult municipal races.
While there were certainly disappointments, these municipal victories prove to me that our communities still identify with Republican ideals, and we have the grassroots power to win Elections.
We are analyzing these results, and we will be consulting with candidates, leadership, and voters on what we can do to strengthen our Party going forward.
Thank you again for all of your support.
Robert J. Kerns, Chairman
Montgomery County Republican Committee
